Charlie West - Mid-City Electric

Adding to the expertise of our service and small projects division, Charlie West is another newly added project engineer. Charlie will work with Jimmy Dew to manage the needs of our small project clients and respond to new client inquiries.

Below is some Q & A that we did with Charlie to help you get to know him a little better.

Q: What is the most memorable project that you have ever been a part of?
My most memorable project that I have ever worked on and completed successfully has got to be 250 S. High, which is a 12-story mixed-use condo building in downtown Columbus. Something that made it the most memorable was the height of the building. At that time, I believe it was the tallest building my company had ever built from the ground up. The second reason was, hands down, my crew. We all worked together to complete a very successful project on time and well under budget.

Q: What will your role here at Mid-City be? My role here at Mid-City mainly involves preparing proposals for the Service and Small Projects Division.

Q: From your point of view, what do you see as a growing trend in electrical estimating?  I feel that construction has become way more technical and definitely a lot more fast passed than what it has ever been before. I think the most important aspect of the service department would have to be speed along with customer service. Taking care of a customer’s issue in a timely manner, whether that means getting their power restored in the winter or getting a piece of equipment back up and running so their factory can resume production, is very important. Responding to customer needs like that is why we’re here, and it is what keeps us in business.

Q: What’s something that your new coworkers probably don’t know about you? (like a fun fact!) Outside of work, my wife and I are always busy with our four kids and their sports. I have one graduating High School this year and headed off to college. When we are in the off-season with sports, I like to do bodywork on vehicles, which can involve anything from fixing wrecked cars to restoring classic trucks.
