Theo Manos has joined Mid-City as a project manager and estimator. With 40 years in the electrical industry working on both the contractor and owner side, he is bringing his vast knowledge and technical expertise to Mid-City’s teledata team.
Here at Mid-City, Theo will work within the teledata department to pursue new opportunities while managing and supporting a list of his own clients. While Theo’s new home is in Mid-City’s teledata division, he has extensive electrical experience as well. In fact, much of the early years of his career were spent performing preventative maintenance for another local electrical contractor. During that same time, he honed his understanding of data centers, as he managed the teledata infrastructures for one of their major customers. Eventually, he made a career shift, where he worked for the owner by overseeing those same data centers directly.
Theo is a graduate of Independence High School, where he also completed a program in electrical construction through the South East Career Center. “A career center rep came to my school in 10th grade and told us we could learn a trade while in high school and get placed in a job after graduation. It sounded good to me,” Theo said. “My first choice was automotive, but there were no openings, so I went with my second choice, which was electrical. I’m glade I got in.” Following high school, he advanced his electrical career by enrolling in the JATC training program, where he learned about topics like electrical safety, motor controls, and fire alarm and security systems, just to name a few.
Outside of the office and the job site, Theo also teaches electrical and teledata courses at Columbus State Community College and through the Electrical Trades Center. He has a wife of 35 years, two children, and two grandchildren.
“Theo’s experience working for both the contractor and the owner in data center settings give him a really unique perspective that is invaluable to the teledata team,” Ralph Charles, Mid-City Director of Teledata Operations, said.
