Meet Evelyn Marx!
Evelyn is interning with Mid-City for summer 2021! She recently graduated from Gahanna Lincoln High School but was dual-enrolled at The Ohio State University as a full-time student for both her junior and senior years. Her favorite courses were math and computer science. This upcoming school year, Evelyn will be attending Vanderbilt University’s School of Engineering in Nashville, Tennessee, where she will be studying Electrical Engineering.
Evelyn has already been to two job sites and has loved the experience. Evelyn is looking forward to a summer full of electrical construction. “Electrical Construction excites me because I will learn the construction process from start to finish through the eyes of people with diverse electrical experience and perspectives.”
Evelyn was a recipient of the Mid-City Electric Scholarship through the Builders Exchange of Central Ohio. High school seniors and students currently enrolled at a two- or four-year college program are encouraged to apply for a Builders Exchange Scholarship. Applicants are evaluated on the following criteria:
- Academic achievement
- Community and school involvement
- Financial need
- Relationship of the student’s field of study to the construction industry
- Potential future impact of the student on the central Ohio construction community
- Quality of the application
Evelyn was one of eight high school students to receive a scholarship through the BX Scholarship Program.
During her summer internship with Mid-City, Evelyn will be working primarily with the preconstruction and BIM teams to become engaged in the 2D and 3D layout of electrical systems. To give her a more comprehensive understanding of construction, she will also visit several job sites to gain exposure to other phases of the building process. “I am very excited to see the construction sites in person and gain a better understanding of electrical construction.
When asked what excites her about working with us she said, “Its core values. Mid-City prioritizes work ethic, respect, and safety. Although Mid-City is a large company, I feel welcomed, and I am happy to be working here,” Evelyn said. We’re looking forward to spending the summer with Evelyn and helping her get real-world experiences before heading off to college!
