MID-CITY ELECTRIC WILL BE RECEIVING A BUILDERS EXCHANGE CRAFTSMANSHIP AWARD AND SAFETY ACHIEVEMENT AWARD THIS FALL

Recognizing the project crew from Nationwide Children’s Hospital, the Craftsmanship Award names Steven Driver, Riley Fetherolf, Jack Hickman, Paul Poklinkowski, and Tommy Rathbun recipients of this prestigious honor. The team will be recognized for electrical installations and upgrades at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital West Energy Plant. Their winning work includes: two new AEP services, a 10.5 megawatt generator plant with an extensive electrical distribution system, a temporary feed for multiple buildings with temporary generator systems, and two five-meg systems. ” The team was dealing with installations that involved very large pieces of equipment that needed to be installed in a specific order and time frame,” Dave Anderson, director of estimating and project manager for the West Energy Plant, said. ” They also had to temporarily feed multiple buildings with temporary generator systems so that the existing generator plant could be demolished to make room for the new energy plant. From start to finish, the project was just very complex, and the entire team worked together to make sure everything was done to the highest standards.”

The Builders Exchange Craftsmanship Award is one of the highest honors for trades people in the commercial construction industry. The award program recognizes individuals who have performed the highest quality work on projects, both large and small, throughout the Central Ohio area. This is Mid-City’s 27th Craftsmanship Award.

Mid-City will also be recognized with a BX Safety Achievement Award for outstanding injury and illness statistics.   Applicants are evaluated on their workplace injuries and illnesses from the previous calendar year, along with the company’s workers’ compensation experience modification rate (EMR). National figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics are used as benchmarks in the judging process and finalists are subject to site visits from a team of BX judges. This is Mid-City’s 16th Safety Achievement Award to date.

Congratulations to our Craftsmanship winners, field team, and safety crew for these industry honors!
