It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of one of Mid-City Electric’s founders, Jack Kempton, who passed away peacefully at home yesterday afternoon, surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was more than a co-founder—he was the closest friend and longtime business partner to my dad. I take great comfort in believing that they are now reunited once again. Jack had a rare gift: every person who spent time with him left feeling a little better about themselves. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering integrity left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jack and my father started Mid-City in 1960 with a simple but powerful goal: to build a better future for their families. Through their hard work, vision, and friendship, they laid the foundation for what Mid-City has become today. I believe with all my heart that their mission has been fulfilled—and it’s one we carry forward every day.
As we mourn Jack’s passing, our hearts and prayers go out to the entire Kempton family. They’ve been a part of our Mid-City family since the very beginning, and their presence continues to shape who we are.
Jack passed on Memorial Day—a fitting moment to reflect on those who have lived with purpose and left a legacy of goodness. We are forever grateful for Jack’s role in our story, and we will deeply miss the positive spirit he brought to our lives and our company.
With deep respect and gratitude,
Brian
