Congrats to our BX Craftsmanship Award Winners of 2021!
Tom Rathbun, Bill Maloney, King Drafton, Brian Crompton, and Kyle Brown. We are so proud of their dedication to a job well done at the Temporary Emergency Power for the Greater Columbus Convention Center. A project spearheaded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this temporary hospital was built to house overflow COVID-19 patients for OhioHealth, OSU, and Mount Carmel Health.
This job was particularly unique and not like anything our team had performed in the past due to the pandemic. It was a huge collaboration between local, state, and federal officials to find a way to provide a safe, functioning system in a very short timeframe. We had to obtain the installation materials, complete the install, and meet all code requirements in a single week. All of those elements would be challenging enough as they were, but this was executed at the height of the COVID-19 crisis. Protocols such as mask mandates, sanitation requirements, social distancing, and stay-at-home orders were changing daily.
Additionally, there was new stress created just by being around other people that our team had to cope with. However, our team was able to come together, adapt, and complete this high-stress job for the community. We want to extend a huge thank you to all of the field electricians and technicians, project managers, subcontractors, and vendors who worked tirelessly to bring this project to fruition. Thank you all for your courage and your dedication to this temporary hospital and our city. Congratulations!
The BX Craftsmanship Winners will receive their award at the BX Annual Meeting on November 18 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
